Classic carpet look 'maintained by professional cleaning'
People seeking properties for sale in Virginia Water - and other Surrey locations - will have little doubt they are moving to a county with affluence, a high quality of life, easy access to London, plenty of countryside and many fine properties to choose from.
But once moved in, even the finest structure can be marred by a poor interior, which is why those with the means to do so will not be sparing in their investment in an attractive decor, be it their wallpaper, furnishings, floors or accessories.
And comfort can often be a major priority in a home, just as much as aesthetics. Combining the two well will, of course, make it a pleasant place to live and also a nice one for visitors to enjoy - an important consideration for those who entertain a lot.
A woollen carpet may appeal for these reasons, offering a warm and natural material that can come in a wide array of colours and patterns. But once installed, good maintenance is necessary.
Steve Bakker, marketing manager at The WoolSafe Organisation, commented that making sure a wool carpet is kept in good order is very important and this needs a bit of expert help every so often.
He stated: "You should treat your carpet to a professional clean at least once a year anyway, as a professional clean will rid you of any prolonged dirt and can extend the life of your carpet by up to 40 per cent."
As well as having the means to remove stains that cannot be shifted by householders, noting "they will also use machinery to bring the pile of your carpet back to life".
When it comes to the style of carpet to use, there are, of course, many shades and types. Interior designer Carolyn Parker recently advised the best combination is for plain colours in the hall and on the landing, with striped patterns on the stairs looking "fantastic".
But whatever style of carpet is chosen, making sure no expense is spared in keeping it in good order will help to ensure it retains its quality and contributes to an attractive interior.
